23:32 <****> hi lopz
23:33 <****> hello. I've got a problem on a MySQL server. I have Handler_read_rnd shows onver 400k and its slow.. how can I fix that?
23:34 <****> anyideas?
23:35 <****> heya chadmaynard
23:36 <****> lopz: why do you always say "re" ?
23:36 <****> re = regards?
23:37 <****> no idea. I see it almost every day. me = curious
23:37 <****> niuq, don't use workbench.
23:37 <****> re == replay usualy
23:37 <****> i have friend use that as well, and they use it as reguards or reply..
23:38 <****> lopz isn't answering : (
23:38 <****> Tapout: yes, re = "in regards to" (in email) or "regards!" (in irc)
23:43 <****> !help
23:43 <****> Get help on what?
23:43 <****> !help Handler_read_rnd
23:44 <****> There is no such command.
23:45 <****> Tapout: why not?
23:45 <****> niuq: it is EOL
23:45 <****> until the new one is released
23:45 <****> Hello.
23:46 <****> if there like a good tutorial site i can read up on for good and bad database designs or the number of columns i should have in a table vs. number of rows?
23:46 <****> chadmaynard: not sure what EOL stands for
23:46 <****> end of line or end of life
23:46 <****> Is there a limit of the items count inside a IN expression? SELECT name FROM data WHERE id IN (1, 2, 3, ...).
23:47 <****> not a practical limit
23:48 <****> Hi! I'm going to reinstall my system. What is the best way to "copy" my mysql-db so that on the new system everything is like on the old one? tables, databases, users, roles, ...?
23:48 <****> probably hit max_allowed_packet before you hit it
23:48 <****> replman: mysqldump
23:48 <****> is it possible to dump the complete mysql-server?
23:49 <****> Or only tables/databases?
23:50 <****> does it also work if the mysql-version on the old system is different to the one on the new system?
23:52 <****> My IN expression list has 23253 elements. And it is working. In Oracle the IN expression list is limited to 1000 elements. :-)
23:53 <****> if you have that many, you surely need a lookup table
23:53 <****> a hardcoded list of 23k isnt maintainable
23:53 <****> In Oracle you need to do "... id IN (1, ..., 999) OR id IN (1000, ..., 1999) OR id ...".
23:55 <****> db.exp" also copy the system-tables?
23:56 <****> mysql *is* a database, :)
23:56 <****> Does MySQL support hierarchical queries? Something like CONNECT BY or WITH?
23:56 <****> reslllo: union?
23:56 <****> ok. So after importing db.exp i also have all users, roles, connection-settings etc.?
23:57 <****> would someone be able to give me some advice on my database structure? =)
23:57 <****> replman: yep, those are all just tables in the mysql db
23:58 <****> dkr: thank you
23:58 <****> and it doesn't care if the mysql-server on the new machine has a different version?
23:59 <****> anathematic bring it on - what do you need
23:59 <****> replman: negative questions are hard to answer correctly. :) it does care, read the manual about version upgrades, there is a script you can run to updates the mysql tables for nay changes
