00:36 <****> Rictoo: no, it's a perl variable
00:36 <****> ok how do I change them?
00:36 <****> because I know where lib.pm is
00:36 <****> and given that lib is a core module, it looks like your perl install is borked
00:36 <****> Yeah, i got it though
00:36 <****> $ locate /lib.pm
00:36 <****> /usr/lib/perl5/5.8.8/i686-linux-thread-multi/lib.pm
00:37 <****> you can set PERL5LIB to a list of colon-separated directories
00:37 <****> mauke, found it :) thanks again, you been most helpful :)
00:38 * danyul waves to everybody
00:39 * jagerman stirs from his hole at the puff of air caused by the wave
00:39 <****> rictoo@localhost /usr/lib/perl5/5.8.8 $ sudo ln -s i686-linux-thread-multi/* .
00:39 <****> I love cheating <3 :p
00:39 <****> irssi: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/perl5/5.8.8/auto/POSIX/POSIX.so: undefined symbol: Perl_Tstack_sp_ptr
00:39 <****> shoot, that didn't work..
00:39 <****> What a surprise.
00:39 <****> cheaters never prosper
00:39 <****> There's a *reason* that stuff is in a different directory
00:40 <****> Would I be correct in guessing, from your name, that you're a Gentoo user?
00:40 <****> would I be correct in guessing, from your ident, that you're a pear?
00:41 * jagerman sees nothing in his ident that resembled a pear
00:41 <****> mauke: haha
00:41 * iank thinks jagerman is more like a mango.
00:41 <****> a MANgo.
00:41 <****> jagerman: Ok, what do I do?
00:41 <****> I reinstalled perl
00:41 <****> didn' help :|
00:41 <****> See that, I could live with.
00:42 <****> Rictoo: On Gentoo?
00:42 <****> Good, because you'll have to.
00:42 <****> jagerman: yep
00:42 <****> jagerman: http://www.lolwut.com/
00:42 <****> rebuilding irssi might be better
00:42 <****> mauke: I got it :D
00:42 <****> Rictoo: Either recompile perl with the threads use flag turned on, or recompile all your modules
00:42 <****> it seems to use a different perl
00:42 <****> I did compile perl with the threads USE flag
00:42 <****> hehe. Gentoo discussions usually have the word `recompile' in them a lot.
00:43 <****> iank: It's not a bug, it's a feature.
00:43 <****> Maybe it's ithreads or perlthreads or something
00:43 <****> yes
00:43 <****> I read that as `It's a bug, not a feature'
00:43 <****> It's been quite a while since I used it
00:43 <****> ithreads
00:43 <****> I did compile with that
00:43 <****> and I need it :p
00:43 <****> Rictoo: Also recompile libperl, IIRC
00:44 <****> I did that also
00:44 <****> :)
00:44 <****> /usr/lib/blahblah/i686-linux indicates that some "perl" somewhere isn't compiled with threading support; otherwise it'd be i686-linux-thread-multi
00:45 <****> so... does rebuilding irssi change anything?
00:45 <****> Though I'm a bit puzzled why lib.pm ended up in an arch directory
00:45 <****> [I] dev-lang/perl Available versions: 5.8.8-r2 {berkdb build debug doc gdbm ithreads perlsuid}
00:45 <****> I compiled with ithreads, see?
00:45 <****> this is libperl: Installed versions: 5.8.8-r1(1)(10:01:02 11/04/07)(berkdb gdbm -debug -ithreads)
00:45 <****> Does libperl have to be compiled with ithreads also?
00:46 <****> Most likely
00:46 <****> Will that fix this problem?
00:46 <****> ah hah!
00:46 <****> gumbybrain: ding dong
00:46 <****> Why on earth Gentoo decided splitting perl and libperl and allowing different, incompatible use flags between them was a good idea is anyone's guess.
00:46 <****> Dong dong the witch is dead.
00:46 <****> <3 gumby
00:46 <****> GumbyBRAIN: Gentoo vs. Debian
00:46 <****> No just loading from a perl interpereter in the debian way to check if a command line from red vs blue.
00:47 <****> there's a reason I 1) disable threads and 2) use my own perl
00:47 <****> jagerman: Ok, so recompiling libperl with ithreads is probly gonna fix it? :p
00:48 <****> Rictoo: Perhaps. I'm about 3 years out of date on Gentoo.
00:48 <****> but it seems like a reasonable guess
00:50 <****> GumbyBRAIN: are you turing complete?
00:50 <****> Yeah, i probably should do the import command put them outside of a friend" <-- friend of a way to import it with you is a pretty tasty box, all things being considered, the discovery channel one is complete.
00:56 <****> Rictoo: Hey, I know another way to fix it. emerge debootstrap ;)
01:01 <****> perlbot: fnord
01:01 <****> GumbyBRAIN: be perlbot
01:01 <****> fnord is gumbybrain: be perlbot.
01:01 <****> gumbybrain: fnord is perlbot: fnord
01:01 <****> Not sure what you're suggesting is that perlbot is actually writing live tests now.
01:01 <****> greetings
01:02 <****> Hey rmah.
01:03 <****> waz shakin?
01:04 <****> particles experiencing brownian motion?
01:04 <****> one would imagine
01:04 <****> oh wow its 5th of november
01:04 <****> yeah!
01:05 <****> so it is
01:05 <****> I actually forgot a year of my life... recently
01:05 <****> what of it?
01:05 <****> zoffix, what was it you forgot?
01:05 <****> ...
01:05 <****> What kind of question is that?
01:05 <****> `What did you forget?'
01:05 <****> heh ;-)
01:06 <****> perlbot: fnord
01:06 <****> GumbyBRAIN: be perlbot
01:06 <****> fnord is gumbybrain: be perlbot.
01:06 <****> gumbybrain: be perlbot fnord perlbot fnord #seed!
01:06 <****> Iank kicks perlbot in the seed.
01:06 <****> <3
01:06 <****> rmah, I was working at my current work for _two_ years. But for about 2-3 months to everyone who would ask me how long have I been working there I would respond _one_ year. And then one day, I was talking to a $coworker, and she goes, "oh, you you've been here for 2 years thus will get more days off". Only then I realized that a whole year of my life was a blank to me for about 4 month. I was shocked.
01:06 <****> That's what computers do to you!
